As I look back in the past, my bedroom is the place that makes me feel like I can be myself. I mostly spend my spare time doing things that I like and reflecting myself in the room. It is the most comfortable place for me.
In the present, I see myself as a girl who put too much pressure on herself. I always think to myself that everything needs to be nearly perfect, which make things tougher. I also overthink about how other people's think about me. However, I am in the process of trying to be more positive by focusing on doing the things I like. For the future, I don't have a clear answer of who I want to be. Just being positive and enjoy doing things I like is enough for me. In this piece of work, I show a connection between my past, present, and future using lines, shape, and phrases. I have used lines to create a box shape to represent my room, which is the place that makes me feel most comfortable. Lines also represent the uncertain future that we can not predict and is complicated. The flower represents me growing up. As you can see, the color turns darker as time goes by, which can relate to real-life that when I was young, I know nothing and am as pure as white flowers, but when I grow up, I become tougher on myself and not as innocent as before. I have used negative phrases to fill up the background to show that I can overcome those things and improving myself to become a better me. During the process of making this work, I receive a lot of comments from my peer. They mostly said that the main element, which is the flower, is not stand out enough. I agree with those comments and revise my work by using white color to outline the flower in the center. I want the viewer to notice that the aspects of my life are complicated and stressful. However, there is also some beautiful part of life, and that is why I use flowers to represent me.
