The purpose of my pastiche is to shows that I love creating arts and show how I become a person who appreciates art. During the process of writing a pastiche, I enjoy analyzing Li-Young Lee's poem and apply his techniques in my writing. I have never done anything like this before, so I also feel excited and nervous at the same time. However, I have done my pastiche and tried my best to reveal my identity throughout the poem.
Loves to draw is the identity that I chose to write about in my pastiche. For the reason why I got this identity, I would say that my father is the one who influenced me the most. I am the kind of person who does not speak a lot and also does not know how to express my emotions in words. It is my father who taught me that whenever I feel down or uncomfortable about anything, and I don't know how to explain it, draw the emotion out is the easiest thing to do. I also saw my father drawing pictures in his office room since I was so little, and I feel so excited every time. I am surprised at how he conveys his thoughts through only just a piece of paper. Until today, I still believe that art is one way to express who we are without needing to speak it all out. So, in the pastiche, I wanted to show how paintings can make me feel comfortable wherever I go. I chose to write about my identity because it can relate to Li-Young Lee’s techniques of revealing his own identity through the poem. In the poem, I have used a warm tone to creates a feeling of tender and comfort. The diction I have used is simple. I chose to use simple words to shows that I am not a person who is good at communicating through words, but through pictures. And for the format, I have repeated the second and fourth stanzas to shows that even though I have watched my father draw over and over, I still enjoy watching it every time. Similar to Li-Young Lee, he also used these techniques to help communicates his emotion and identity throughout the poem. Lastly, my aspects towards this project is positive. Even though it is difficult to create my own pastiche, reflect, and analyze on the techniques, it is still fun to try doing new things. I totally enjoy doing, thinking, and planning this project on my own. It is very helpful for me to practice brainstorming and learning new vocabulary. Doing this project helps me improve my reading and analysing skills a lot, which will be very useful for me in the future.

In unit 2, I have read Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. This one pager I’ve made is to summarize the message which the author is trying to communicate with readers.
