Vasco da Gama is the first European who find the route to India. He is the third son of Estêvão Da Gama, a knight in the Duke of Viseu's court and Isabel Sodré, a noblewoman. He started his journey when he was 37 years-old and reached India when he was 39 years-old. The purpose of this voyage is to create a new trade route which leads to India, trade some spice and study the customs of India.
From making the journal for my final project makes me learned many things that I haven't before. I have learned about Vasco Da Gama biography and his journey and also learned how to write a journal creatively. It's also a good practice for me to improve my writing skills and my creativity. ESLOs: Innovative thinkers who creative and original.

Theodosian dynasty is the dynasty of the Roman empire. My friends and I had chosen this dynasty for our group project. It's a little bit hard to find the information of this dynasty, however, at last, we can help together finishing up the project.
Theodosian dynasty is the era where Roman empire had split into two part. Arcadius and Honorius became rulers after the death of their father, Theodosius. They split the land into two part, East and West, the East was ruled by Arcadius and the West was ruled by Honorius. Honorius was very young, so it became one of the reasons that made the Western part weak. Therefore, the Barbarian tribes can easily invade and conquered the Western part. From doing this project, I have learned a lot. I have got more knowledge about the dynasty, and this is also the first time I've got a chance to make the Prezi presentation. Ancient Greece group project is the first project I've done in this semester. This project is quite similar to the project I have done before. Archaic Greece is the period my group has chosen to do. My role is to research information about economic and social structure in that period. The information in this period is not much because most of the time it is the dark age. Archaic period started from about 800 BCE and ended about 480 BCE. Before the archaic period, Greece was in the dark age because they have lost the Trojan war. In early archaic Greece, Athens doesn't take part much in trading. But in about sixth century, they started to exchanging goods throughout the Mediterranean Sea and become part of a trade network. Also, the polis which means city-state has begun too. The fall of archaic Greece is in about 480 BCE. In that time, Greece has lost the war of Thermopylae. The son of Darius I, King Xerxes wanted to conquer all of Greece and decided to invade Greece again after his father has failed in the first invasion. King Xerxes gathered many troops to build a large army. His army has over 200,000 soldiers and more than 1,000 warships. At that time, the Persians found a way around the mountain to attack behind Greece, they captured the Greek and burned the city of Athens. After the war of Thermopylae, all of Boeotica and Attica fell to the Persian army. And that's the end of the archaic period. Mesopotamia is an area between two rivers, Tigris and Euphrates. In that period there are civilizations of four empires which are Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, and Assyrian. I will talk more about those empires in the following paragraphs.
Sumerian is the first civilization in Mesopotamia. In fact, Sumerian is not a country, it just city-states. Sumerian is ruled by a priest-king, people pray him for rainfall to grow crops. The end of Sumerian is when they are invented by the Akkadian. Akkadian started to rise after the duration of Sumerian. Sargon the great had united Mesopotamia into one country. He also the ruler of Akkadian. This phase ended because of rebelling. The next empire rising up is Babylonian. During the time that Akkadian started to be weak, Babylonian replaced them. Hammurabi is the ruler of this empire, he also the one who created one of the first laws. As the time goes by, Babylonian became weaker and finally reached the end. The empire that rising up after the Babylonian is Assyrian. They took over the Babylonian and conquered Egypt. At last, Assyrian become to fall and that is the end of ancient Mesopotamia. Ancient Egypt is located along the Nile river. Ancient Egypt has divided into 6 eras which are Early Dynasty, Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom, Late Period, and Ptolemaic. Early Dynasty started about 3000 BCE. Upper and lower Egypt have been united as one civilization. Narmer is the king of this era, in that time, the title of Pharaoh was not created yet. In Early Dynasty they also have no slaves because they don't have permanent Pharaoh. The next era rise after Early Dynasty is the Old Kingdom. This era started around 2700 BCE and ended around 2055 BCE. Djoser is the pharaoh of the Old Kingdom, he created nomes and build pyramids. After the period of the Old Kingdom is the Middle Kingdom. Mentuhotep II started the 11th dynasty, he called himself as a "God-king". His dynasty ended because of civil wars. Amenemhat I have started the 12th dynasty, he builds lots of defenses. His dynasty ended because of drought and famine, and that's the end of the Middle Kingdom. The New Kingdom started around 1550 BCE. Ahmose I became king of lower Egypt. He defeated the Hyksos and united all of Egypt under one rule. During the reign of Ramesses III, the power of Egypt began to be weak. After he died everything became worse, and several years later Egypt was no longer united. The era of the Late Period is quite short. In 595 BCE, they defeated Assyrian. But in 332 BCE they began to fall because they are invaded by Alexander the Great. Ptolemaic is the last era of the ancient Egypt. After Alexander the Great died, his generals divided his empire. The position of satrap has been claimed by Ptolemy and Ptolemy I made himself Pharaoh of Egypt. Around 30 BCE, Egypt was conquered by Rome, and that's the end of ancient Egypt. Ancient Egypt group projectAncient Egypt and ancient Mesopotamia have many things that quite similar to each other. The reason why they have almost the same culture is ancient Egypt has been conquered by ancient Mesopotamia before.
Egypt conquered by Assyrian before, which Assyrian is in Mesopotamia, so, some of their cultures may quite similar. For religion, they both believe in many gods (polytheism). They also have similar invention such as clay tablets, both Egypt and Mesopotamia used the clay tablets to write down their language which is cuneiform and hieroglyphics. Governance is another thing that they have the same pattern. They all have slaves in their social structure and they also ruled by the king which they pray the king as God. |
